Troubleshooting FAQ
When TV Messenger updates a message on the TV, it temporarily turns the TV image black while it is loading messages into the M-brAIn device. This is a normal operation and is used to get the attention of the loved-one. This feature will be made optional in the feature
The cable TV box or streaming content signal comes into the M-brAIn to combine live TV with caregiver, web, Q&A or chatbot information. The HDMI signal from the signal source is connected to a video device that is plugged into the USB port of the M-bAIn. If this video device is touched or rattled, the brief vibration can disrupt and disconnect the live video stream resulting in the USB not connected message on the TV. It is necessary to reset the M-brAIn to remove this message and return to the normal TV operations. See below regarding resetting the M-brAIn.
To eliminate the M-brAIn as a source of theses problems being experienced, reset the device according to the reset instructions below.
Many TV's have an option called CEC enabled. This option senses when a cable TV box turns on and will automatically turn on your TV. The M-brAIn resets each day at 4am to perform special synchronization functions. During the reset the TV Messenger logo and other information may be displayed and the TV takes this as the wakeup signal. Disable the CEC option on the TV.
There are two ways to reset/restart the M-brAIn device that feeds Live and Streaming TV signals to the TV.
The Service Support screen of the Web or Mobile TVMapp, contains a function called 'Reset M-brAIn device'. As long as the device is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, this function will reset the unit. The screen should go black within 30 seconds as the reset process takes effect.
The alternate way to reset the device is the briefly remove the leftmost cable plugged into the M-brAIn which carries power to it. The cable to its right connects to the HDMI input of the TV.
The reset process takes less than 2 minutes in total. The TV Messenger logo will appear within 30 seconds, then about 30 seconds of a black screen. A set of rainbow colored vertical bars may occur just before the Live TV returns to TV.
